Amity University’s Sports Meet “Sangathan 2022” concludes

Sangathan means union, unity and consolidation.  True to its meaning Sangathan celebrated at Amity University embodies the spirit of competition, fair play and achievement.
Sangathan is annual Sports Meet of Amity group dating back to 1998. It is the brain child of our visionary, Founder President, Dr Ashok K Chauhan. Sangathan provides a unique opportunity wherein students of all Amity Campuses from across the country and abroad showcase their talent and skills, competence and. Sports and cultural events conducted over 5 weeks. This event greatly helps in developing multi-faceted qualities, and virtues among them. This would tremendously lead to developing their overall personality and resulting in their faster career growth in times to come. 

In keeping with the indomitable spirit of Amitians, the Founder’s Day is celebrated to honor the dynamic leadership and unfathomable achievements of the Founder President of the Amity Group of Institutions, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan.  Sangathan is celebrated at two levels.  At the first level, sports competitions are held at each Amity University Campus as ‘Inter Institutional Sports Meet’.  At the second level, a mega Sangathan event is held at Amity University Uttar Pradesh at Noida on 31st October, whereby all Amity National and International Campuses come together in unison to participate and compete in a plethora of sports events.

With total 40 events and 22 disciplines more than 1000 students from various institutions participated in the mega sports meet and lock horns with their counterparts in various sporting events like , cricket , basketball, football , volleyball, kabaddi, track & field events etc was featured. The event commenced on 16th September 2022 with the lighting of the Sangathan flame and march past followed by sports competitions and cultural events.  

While motivating the students Prof (Dr.) P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana said “SANGATHAN embodies the spirit of oneness, promotes competition, inspires to achieve and fosters individual as well team excellence.” Amity University has a great advantage of a visionary Founder President Dr Ashok K Chauhan and an inspirational leader Hon’ble Dr Aseem Chauhan. Our focus at AUH is on holistic development of our students and on integrating modernity with our age old tradition and universal values, said Prof Sharma. 

While delivering his address Prof Vikas Madhukar, Pro Vice Chancellor, AUH said, “Celebration of Sangathan at Amity truly symbolizes that people are the greatest strength of any organization. The day reminds us how Amity is growing bigger and bigger over the years and celebrate the success. The day inspires us to work hard and reassure our commitment in the achievement of mission of Hon’ble Founder President Sir.”

Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd) in his address said, “Sports and games embody a spirit of team work and competitiveness. Sangathan signifies the indomitable spirit of our youth who year after year compete in various events and inculcate sportsman spirit and a will to perform and achieve.”

The eagerly awaiting students who competed and surpassed their competitors in various Sports were felicitated with Gold & Silver and Trophies. The team Club - D (Amity Law School)  lifted the Winner’s Trophy with 9 Gold Medals & 8 Silver with total of 69 points in their kitty.

The team Club - C (Amity College of Nursing + Amity Institute of Pharmacy + Amity School of Architectural Planning) with 60 points was awarded the Runner’s Up with 9 Gold medals and 5 Silver medals. Lokesh won the Best Athlete (Male) Award and Gargi took the trophy for Best Athlete Award (Female), Shalok won the Best Sportsman (M) award and Varsha won Best Sportsman (F) award. 

Sangathan 2022 concluded on 20th October, 2022 yet another milestone in the history of various events that Amity conducts for the overall development of its students. 

Dr Ajit K Nagpal, Chairman of Amity PACIFIC Forum, Dr Ravi Manuja, Registrar, Rear Admiral K K Pandey(Retd), Director HR, Sq Ldr SK Singh (Retd), Director Administration, Maj Gen P K Sharma (Retd), ALS, Maj Gen J S Dhull (Retd), Col Vijay Yadav (Retd), Dy Director Hostel, Mr Pritish Khare, Sports Officer, Ms Priyanka Sharma, Sports Officer and Mr Ayush were also present alongwith faculty, staff and thousands of students at the closing ceremony of Sangathan.
