Chandigarh, September 30, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon today thanked the people of Punjab for making the concluding function of the 13-day ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ a success. He said the yatra was not merely a political exercise but had evolved into a major people’s movement aimed at making Punjab free from drugs.
Dhillon said during the yatra, BJP covered more than 4,000 km across all 117 Assembly constituencies and reached villages and households to create awareness about the menace of drugs. The overwhelming response received from people across the state, he said, reflected their concern over the drug problem and their resolve to fight it.
He specially thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for visiting Jalandhar and lending further strength to the campaign aimed at safeguarding Punjab’s youth from drugs. He said Shah listened to families affected by drug abuse and expressed his resolve to work towards making Punjab drug-free.
Dhillon said the Union Home Minister’s resolve to make Punjab drug-free before December 31, 2029, had instilled hope and confidence among the people of the state. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that under his leadership, the country was committed to tackling the challenge of drugs and other issues confronting society.
The Punjab BJP president said a large number of people from different parts of the state attended the concluding function in Jalandhar. The gathering inside the venue as well as the large turnout on the roads outside, he said, had further strengthened the campaign.
Dhillon thanked the people of Punjab, BJP workers, leaders, organisers and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in making the 13-day yatra a success.
He said making Punjab drug-free was not the responsibility of any single political party but a collective responsibility of society. The BJP’s campaign, he added, would continue with the resolve to protect the future of Punjab’s youth and make every possible effort towards a drug-free Punjab.
