Ambassador of France calls on Punjab Governor

Chandigarh, February 20, 2014:  Ambassador of France Francois Richier today called on Shivraj V Patil, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
Discussing various issues at length Patil said India and France have forged mutually beneficial collaborative ties in the realm of education, scientific research and culture over the past several decades. He suggested for strengthening partnerships in agri-related ventures especially food processing which has a major scope of collaboration. He said that the state of Punjab has been doing well in the field of Agriculture and the quality of land is also very good and fertile.
Patil further said that another area in which there was a big scope is Solar Energy. He said that bold initiatives have already been taken for the generation of more power with focus on tapping solar energy to meet growing demand in different sector of economy.
Francois Richier, while interacting said that relations between France and India stems from deep-rooted cultural attraction and a sheer interest in each other’s culture that dates back to centuries.
