Alumni Meet- Reunion -2023 organized in Doaba College

Jalandhar, December 9, 2023 : Alumni Meet was organized for former students by the Gems Alumni Association of Doaba College Jalandhar in Principal House, which was attended by approx 150 alumni from various streams . Padma Shri Vijay Chopra, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Chander Mohan- President Arya Shiksha Mandal and College Managing Committee presided over the function, Dhruv Mittal- Treasurer, College Managing Committee and Harish Gupta- Member, College Managing Committee as Guests of Honour. The dignitaries were welcomed with saplings by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Dr. Avinash Bawa, Coordinator and Dr. Suresh Mago, Co-Coordinator of Doaba College Alumni Association. In welcome address, Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, said that Doaba College is a family and the happiness of the family is incomplete without the loved ones. The alumni, who have passed out from here, are very important for the college even today, he added. He also talked about last year’s college achievements in academics and sports.

Vijay Chopra in his address talked about tough days of partition and his journey from Lahore to Delhi. He also recalled meeting with Varinder (Father of current President Chander Mohan). He urged everyone to respect parents as they are the real gods on earth and request everyone to always speak truth even in tough and challenging situations.

Chander Mohan showed his gratitude towards Padma Shri Vijay Chopra, 
Renowned Alumnus for gracing the occasion. He recalled the days when Sh Vijay took charge of Hind Samachar Group and took it to great heights in tough times. He motivated all to spend more time on social interaction as one grow old in life.

Manvinder Singh Deputy Director, Press Punjab Government talked about the contribution Vijay Chopra and his stature in Media. He expressed his gratitude to his teachers and college for shaping and moulding his career. Chander Mohan, Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari facilitated Vijay Chopra with memento.

Sukhdev Lal Babbar, Principal Government School, Alampur Bakra recalled his days spent in this college. He also talked about dedication of current principal and all the staff members. Prof. Devansh Bhaskar while addressing the audience went down the memory lane and shared some of college memories. A life journey of alumnus Lord Swraj Paul was shown on the screen. Some of the notable alumni like Paramjeet Sachdeva, Col. Bhupinder Rai, Rajiv Rai and Lord Swraj Paul shared their recorded video messages with audience. Balvinder Vicky and Harpreet Rimpy recalled some precious teachings of former PrincipalO.P Mohan. They announced to sponsored trophy for the winning team in cultural events of the college every year. The event culminated with Bhangra by college students. Prof Priya Chopra conducted the stage.
