ALUMNI MEET-ABHA, 2017 CONCLUDES AT PAU

Ludhiana, December 22, 2017: Amidst the gathering of former deans, professors and students of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (PAU) the second Alumni Meet – Abha, 2017 was organized to relive the old days. On this occasion, all the alumni were in their exclusive shades and colours - driving away the dire fact of growing old. The old pals met each other by tight passionate hugs and rejenuvated their old memories and moments. The function commenced with an invocation which was followed by a formal welcome of the Chief Guest Dr B.S.Dhillon, Vice Chancellor PAU, Guests, Retirees and Donors.

Dr Gurinder Kaur Sangha, President, Association of Basic Sciences and Humanities Alumni (ABHA) and the Dean of the College,warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, all dignitaries and alumni of the college. She presented the progress report of the college by highlighting its achievements. The chief guest of the occasion Dr B.S. Dhillon, Vice Chancellor PAU, also greeted all the dignitaries, alumni and students. He addressed all the present by stressing the importance of alumni, for their excellence and brilliance, in the university rankings. He also emphasized the need for creating stronger ties between the alumni and current students for training, capacity building and placements.

The alumnus and the former dean of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Dr A.P.S. Maan, addressed to the students to achieve their dreams by focusing on their studies consistently. He also encouraged and inspired the faculty to take PAU to the flying colours by updating themselves with new techniques and technology. Dr Parmil Singh, former Professor of Botany and alumnus also shared her special experiences and warm bond with PAU. Dr S.B. Pandhi, an alumnus of the college thanked his mentor for his training and guidance in his Ph.D and shared his experience of being 1980’s best artist of PAU.

A token of gratitude and honour was given to Dr. I.S. Grewal, Dr Seema Garcha, Dr P.K. Khanna, Dr S.K. Uppal, Dr Sukhjeet Kaur for various fellowships and medals of College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. A session of an informal interaction was also held for alumni to share their experiences and memories of PAU. Along with it a cultural extravaganza of jhoomar, gidha and singing enthralled the audience. Various games and selfie-booth also remained an attraction corner for the alumni.
