Dharmshala, October 19, 2013: Pre-Paragliding World Cup Championship is being organised at Bir-Billing, the world renowned paragliding site in Kangra district of Himachal near Dharamsala, from October 24-30.
Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh, will be the chief guest in the award distribution ceremony on the last day of the event.
Disclosing this, Sudhir Sharma, Urban Development and Housing Minister-cum-Chief Organizer of Pre-Paragliding World Cup Championship  said last evening,  “As many as 171 paragliders from 33 countries had registered themselves so far beside four expert pilots from Europe were participating in the Championship.”
Talking to the media persons at Bir, Sharma said, “Fifty top women pilots are participating for the first time including top ranking Klandia Bulgakow, Isbella Messanger and Daria Krasmova. Besides, 50 top male participants comprising Yassen Savov, Rol Penso and Jamie are participating.”
After inspected the take-off and landing sites at Biling and Bir             Sudhir Sharma informed media that one helicopter would be kept ready for rescue operations besides 5 ambulances and 21 vehicles. He said that professional climbers from Europe had been engaged for rescue activities. Mountaineering Association of India would supervise over rescue operation. He said that 15 local youths had been trained in first aid besides standby beds and doctors in the local hospitals. He said road upto Billing was being repaired and all other arrangements were being made at war-footing to see the event success. Arrangements were also being made to put the competition on wire through news sport Prime News and Ten Sports etc. He hoped that the Pre Paragliding World Cup Championship being organised first time in collaborations with HP Tourism and Civil Aviation would conclude successfully.
