Chandigarh/Mohali, January 24, 2014: Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today announced that Punjab Government has decided to release tube well connections to all pre 2007 applicants within one month.

Speaking to media persons after installing Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon as Chairman of Punjab State Tube Well Corporation here, Badal accompanied by Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister Punjab, said that it was SAD-BJP Government that had been clearing the pendency of tube well connections to the farmers whereas previous Congress Government never bothered to release even single connection. He said that he has already approved installation of more than 300 deep tube wells in the kandi and bet areas of Punjab besides approving major program for optimum utilization of existing tube wells.  

While installing Parkash Singh Bhatti, former MLA from Balluana as Chairman of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation, Badal said that the corporation was focusing on giving easy credit to SC population to start their own ventures. Calling upon youth to focus on self employment ventures, Badal said that in the era of economic growth and industrialization there was a great future for budding entrepreneurs. He directed Bhatti to properly publicise the schemes of the corporation so the SC population can take full advantage of schemes.

Meanwhile, enthroning Vijay Danav as Chairman of Punjab Dalit Vikas Board, Badal said that the SAD-BJP Government was committed for the overall welfare of Dalits in the state. He said that 40 percent of welfare budget would be spent for the welfare of Dalit population.
