Ludhiana, October 30, 2015: A lecture was held today in Senior Secondary Residential School For Meritorious Students, Tagore Nagar, Ludhiana. The lecture was organized by Department of Plastic Surgery of DMCH.
Dr Sanjeev Uppal (Professor & Head of Plastic Surgery) spoke to the students and gave tips to the students that how they should burn crackers to avoid any accident. Children, usually, like to fire crackers many days before Diwali. Anaars & Rockets are very dangerous and children should ignite these crackers with safety.
He cautioned that all accidents due to fireworks occur as a result of carelessness, negligence and ignorance. But these can certainly be avoided by observing some very simple precautions. All of us enjoy the pleasure of light and sound but when disaster strikes the injured has to bear the cross. Parents need to be more cautious for the kids and should take necessary safety measures to avoid any accident.
Dr Uppal also advised students to educate maximum number of people after the session. Fire is a good master when it is in our control but it becomes bad master when goes out of control, it does not identify people who come in its contact that weather he/she is a celebrity, a politician, a student, a teacher, and so on.  The students participated in the session and also asked the queries, which were answered by the doctor.
Principal Mr Anoop Kumar Passi said that that it is a good effort on the part of DMCH to make students aware about celebrating safe Diwali. About his school, Mr Passi said setting up of such residential schools for meritorious students all over the state is the visionary approach of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal  in imparting quality school education at national level to benefit the economically poor but bright students. This model adopted by the state had shown the way to the Centre for benefitting bright students from economically weaker sections, said Mr Anoop Passi.
