New Delhi, September 22, 2026: The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medhavi Skills University (MSU) to widen access to globally benchmarked finance education for learners across India.
At the centre of the partnership is MSU's new Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Public Accounting Skills, a one-year programme developed in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA). Integrated with CIMA's CGMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP), the diploma carries exemptions from 14 of the 16 CIMA CGMA Professional Qualification examinations — giving graduates a more direct route to earning the CGMA designation, while reinforcing the rigour of MSU's own curriculum.
The programme spans core finance disciplines — including financial reporting, GST and income tax — alongside applied technical skills in tools such as Tally, SAP, Power BI and Python, preparing graduates to contribute across organisations of every size, from MSMEs to multinational corporations.
Ajay Lalwani, Country Head-India, AICPA & CIMA, said, " India needs finance talent that can operate confidently across markets and contribute to business beyond traditional accounting roles. Our collaboration with Medhavi Skills University combines global professional standards with industry-relevant skills to prepare professionals for the evolving demands of business."
Kuldip Sarma - Honourable Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor, Medhavi Skills University said, " Access to globally relevant higher education should not be limited by geography. At MSU, we intend to bring global professional standards closer to Indian learners while staying rooted in workplace needs. Our collaboration with AICPA & CIMA reflects our commitment to blend postgraduate education, professional qualification and practical skills, advancing our vision of Building a Skills-First India.”
Mohasin Tahasildar, Director, Awarding Body, MSU added: “The finance professional of the future will need to go beyond accounting and compliance to understand technology, interpret data and contribute to business decisions. This programme brings these capabilities coupled with a strong foundation in Indian finance, preparing learners for careers in India as well as the global economy.”
The collaboration between the Association and the university is part of an ongoing commitment between both organisations to develop and support a stronger, more globally connected, pipeline of finance and accounting talent in India.
