Chandigarh, October 26, 2026: In a significant setback to the Shiromani Akali Dal ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the Congress today inducted two prominent leaders into its fold. At Punjab Congress Bhawan, Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh welcomed Montu Vohra, Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former candidate from Ferozepur, and Raj Balwinder Singh Brar, a retired Superintendent of Police and son of former MLA Sukhdarshan Singh Brar, into the party. AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal and Punjab Congress In-charge Sachin Pilot honoured both leaders with siropas and formally welcomed them into the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Pargat Singh said the joining of these leaders would further strengthen the party. He expressed confidence that they would work hand in hand with the party to champion the interests of Punjab and raise the issues that matter to its people.
