The College of Agriculture lifted the Athletic Trophy (M&W) during the 55th Annual Athletic Meet, organized by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).

Ludhiana, April 7, 2022: The College of Agriculture lifted the Athletic Trophy (M&W) during the 55th Annual Athletic Meet, organized by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The College of Agriculture also secured the top position for the Best March Past.

Dr Kiranjeet Kaur Gill, Member, PAU Board of Management, who was the chief guest of the inaugural session, said that participation in sports inculcated self-discipline and competitive spirit, as well as boosted the confidence of youth.
Sardar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Police Commissioner, Ludhiana, presided over the prize-distribution ceremony. Lauding the active participation in sports activities, he said that sports were essential for healthy mind and body.
In his welcome address, Dr GS Buttar, Director Students’ Welfare, said that PAU has been credited with producing three Hockey Olympians and famous sportspersons, who have made a mark in the international arena.
Mr Gurpreet Virk, Welfare Officer (Boys), proposed a vote of thanks.
Students from five constituent colleges of PAU, namely College of Agriculture (COA), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBSH), College of Community Science (COCS), College of Horticulture and Forestry (COHF) and Institute of Agriculture (IOA), Bathinda participated in various sports events. Arshdeep Singh (COA), Jashandeep Singh (COAET) and Jobanjit Singh (COA) were declared the first, second and the third best athletes in men category, respectively. Harleen kaur (COCS), Harmeet Kaur (COBSH) and Sandeep Kaur (COHF) bagged the first, second and third positions in best athlete (women) category, respectively. Mahavir Singh of COA was adjudged as the Best Hockey Player of the University.
