Ludhiana, April 23, 2024: Moving forward with the drive to spread voter awareness among residents, the district administration organised a mass voter awareness program in CT University on Ferozepur road.

Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Jagraon, Gurbir Singh Kohli also participated in the program and appealed the students to exercise their 'Right to Vote' for their better future. 

During the program, short skits were performed by students and SVEEP staff to encourage the voters. Voter registration camp was also organised to enrol first time voters. The officials stated that the aim is to achieve the target of over 70 percent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

Similar awareness events were also held in Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar; Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar; Government School, Ghungrali Rajputan (Khanna); Government School near Division number 3 Police Station among other educational institutes.  

ARO Gurbir Singh Kohli said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney regular awareness activities are being conducted under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program to encourage the voters. 

The aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar). A large number of awareness activities are being organised across the district to encourage voters under program.

Urging all the eligible residents in the district to enrol themselves as voters, the officials further stated that the eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. Voter registration for Lok Sabha-2024 elections can be done till May 4, 2024.

DEO Sakshi Sawhney further said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence. She further said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
