Ludhiana, March 5, 2026: Under Mission JEEVANI – “Care that Saves Two Lives”, the district administration in collaboration with Hero DMC Heart Institute and the Civil Surgeon Office, organized a district-level training program aimed at strengthening early screening and detection of maternal health risks at the primary healthcare level.
The training was held at the DUMRA Auditorium, Hero DMC Heart Institute, where 211 Community Health Officers (CHOs) from across the district participated. The program was conducted under the leadership of ACUT Pragati Verma, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, DFPO Dr. Amanpreet, and Dr. Bishav Mohan. Technical guidance and hands-on training were provided by an expert technical team from Bengaluru on the use of India’s first Digital Stethoscope – AyuSynk, developed by AyuDevices.
The primary focus of the training was the deployment and clinical use of the AyuSynk Digital Stethoscope for early detection of cardiac abnormalities among pregnant women. During pregnancy, the cardiovascular system undergoes significant physiological changes, including an increase in blood volume, cardiac output, and heart rate. These changes can sometimes reveal or worsen previously undiagnosed cardiac conditions, which may lead to serious complications if not detected early. Strengthening screening at the frontline level is therefore critical.
During the training, CHOs were provided practical demonstrations and supervised practice on using the AyuSynk Digital Stethoscope, which allows digital recording and storage of heart and lung sounds, real-time sharing of auscultation data with remote doctors, AI-supported abnormality detection, sound amplification, noise reduction, and graphical visualization of heart sounds. Through the AyuShare mobile application, patient-wise records can be securely documented and shared with specialists for timely consultation and referral.
As part of Mission JEEVANI, these AyuSynk Digital Stethoscope devices have also been distributed to Community Health Officers across the district to strengthen screening at Health & Wellness Centres. The deployment of these devices will enable frontline health workers to identify early signs of cardiac complications among pregnant women and ensure timely medical intervention.
In addition, participants were also trained on the scientifically standardized method of measuring blood pressure using digital BP monitoring devices, which plays a key role in early detection of hypertension and pre-eclampsia during pregnancy.
This initiative under Mission JEEVANI reflects the District Administration’s strong commitment to strengthening primary healthcare screening, improving High-Risk Pregnancy (HRP) monitoring, and moving towards the goal of zero preventable maternal deaths through technology-enabled healthcare and capacity building of frontline health workers.
