Administration urges political parties to appoint Booth-Level Agents
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, in a meeting with representatives of various political parties on Tuesday, emphasized the urgent need to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) to enhance transparency in the electoral roll process.

Ludhiana, August 12, 2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, in a meeting with representatives of various political parties on Tuesday, emphasized the urgent need to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) to enhance transparency in the electoral roll process.
Kumar highlighted that BLAs would collaborate closely with booth-level officers (BLOs) at polling stations to assist eligible citizens in filing applications for inclusion, removal, modification, or transfer in the electoral rolls. He expressed concern that no political party has yet appointed BLAs despite instructions from the Election Commission of India (ECI) aimed at ensuring transparency and improving the accuracy of the electoral roll.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll will soon commence in Punjab. He stressed the critical role of BLAs, alongside BLOs and supervisors, in this process.
Kumar also shared updated voter statistics for Ludhiana district, reporting a total of 2,688,697 voters, comprising 1,430,951 men, 1,257,601 women, and 145 third-gender individuals.
Encouraging youth participation, Kumar urged eligible young voters to register using the Voter Helpline App or by submitting forms to their respective BLOs, ensuring easy access to the voter registration process.
