Administration holds workshop for self-help groups to ensure better marketing of products

Ludhiana, June 22, 2023  With an aim to increase the income of Self Help Groups (SHGs) operating throughout Ludhiana, the district administration on Thursday organized a workshop at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) to help them in better marketing of their products. 

The workshop was inaugurated by PAU vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sandeep Kumar. As many as 50 representatives of SHGs took part actively in the PAU and learnt about new marketing strategies including e-commerce, branding, packaging and labelling. 

The ADC said that most of the SHGs were doing good work but there was no effective mechanism of marketing for their products. So we decided to supplement their efforts to raise the income by guiding them about marketing facilities. He said that the administration will also help SHGs in creating brand identity of the products. 

Kumar said that SHGs were transforming the lives of women folk and their families. They are helping the rural girls and women to become independent by taking initiatives for starting new ventures. He said that the administration would provide fulsome support to them. 

PAU vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal also said that SHGs could also visit the University and seek guidance from experts of Business school for better publicity and wider reach of their products.
