ADC inspects solid waste management site and STP

Nawanshahr, June 5, 2022: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajiv Kumar Verma inspected Solid Waste Management site and Sewage treatment plant at Mussapur Road and in Gujjarpur Village falling in jurisdiction of Nawanshahr Municipal Council.

Verma directed the officials to expediate the purchase of required machinery to clear the waste management site and asked them to ensure the speedy start of bioremediation project there. He also asked the officials to undertake extensive plantation along the periphery of the waste management site to beautify the site. ADC also took the round of compost pits and ordered the officials to ensure proper segregation of waste.

Further, Verma also checked the functioning of STP plant in Gujarpur village and asked the officials to create awareness among peasants to use the treated water for irrigation which will reduce their dependance on groundwater. Further, he told them to ensure use of treated water for watering the saplings in the city and fill the tenders of fire-bridge tankers.

ADC said that surprise inspections would be carried out to keep a close vigil on the working of STP and bio-remediation project.
