Ludhiana, December 16, 2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains inaugurated an outlet run by a women's self-help group (SHG) at the District Administrative Complex.
Praising the efforts of the group members, Bains emphasised that the initiative aligns with the broader goal of women's empowerment through improved livelihood opportunities. He noted that the members had received specialised training at a skill development centre under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
The ADC urged Ludhiana residents to support the outlet by purchasing its eco-friendly and affordable products. He said such support would not only strengthen the SHG economically but also inspire more women to achieve self-reliance. Highlighting environmental concerns, he also stressed the harmful impact of plastic carry bags and encouraged a widespread shift to reusable cloth alternatives.
