Over the years, technology has not only changed how stories are told but also how they are created, performed, and shared. The entertainment industry, once rooted in physical scripts, studio-bound rehearsals, and linear workflows, has undergone a remarkable digital transformation. Today, everything from casting to content promotion has moved online. With tools like video conferencing, cloud-based script sharing, voice-over apps, and social media platforms, artists have found smarter, faster, and more creative ways to work. This National Technology Day, &TV actors Neeta Mohindra (Kailasha Bua, Bheema), Himani Shivpuri (Katori Amma, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Aasif Sheikh (Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) reflect on how technology has empowered their journey on and off screen. Neeta Mohindra, who plays Kailasha Bua in Bheema, shares, “Having been a part of this industry for decades, I have seen a tremendous shift from manual, time-consuming processes to tech-enabled convenience. While I may not be very tech-savvy, I cannot deny how much technology has contributed to our craft. From advanced camera lenses to high-quality VFX and animation, the visual language of storytelling has improved immensely. Even our day-to-day functioning has evolved. I remember going to studios just to dub a single dialogue. Today, with mobile apps, we can record and send clean audio directly from our phones. It is a game changer, and it has helped us work faster, better, and more efficiently.”

Himani Shivpuri, who plays Katori Amma in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “The transformation has been phenomenal. I come from a time when scripts were handwritten, communication happened over landlines, and rehearsals meant physically gathering in one place. That era had its charm, but what we have now is truly empowering. With just a smartphone, I can read scripts, rehearse, shoot reels, and stay connected with my fans through social media. Technology has given us flexibility and reach we never imagined. I may belong to the old school, but I completely embrace this digital wave as it keeps me creatively inspired every day.”
Aasif Sheikh, who plays Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, adds, “I have watched technology evolve from being an occasional help to an everyday essential in our industry. Earlier, if you needed a script, someone had to hand-deliver it. Today, I got it instantly on my phone, no matter where I am. I often record dialogues and listen to them on the go. It helps me internalize them while saving time. Scheduling, travel coordination, and rehearsals are all easier now. Technology has made multitasking possible and sustainable, especially in a high-pressure environment like ours. It has truly redefined how we work, learn, and stay connected. From digitized production to virtual fan interactions, the influence of technology on the entertainment world is undeniable. What took days now happens in minutes, and for actors, it is not just about convenience, but about unlocking creativity, efficiency, and longevity in their craft".
