It’s always a difficult task to wear multiple hats and ace each role perfectly, Actor- Producer- Comedian and Writer Shantanu Anam is one such artist who is known for doing things out of the box. Known for writing and producing Hotstar series, Pariwar, Shantanu is back as Debu in his upcoming movie, Dilli Dark, which is directed by Dibakar Das Roy. This feature film is a dark comedy and showcases the story of a Nigerian student living in New Delhi. However, he faces a lot of hurdles in completing his MBA and settling in India because of his skin colour.

Speaking about the key messaging of the movie, Mr. Anam said, “Dilli Dark is a feature film which is written, directed and produced by Dibakar Das Roy, it’s his first feature film.  I’m very excited about the release because along with being a dark comedy, it also has a message that is extremely vital for audiences across the world. It is a satirical take on the racism in Dilli but in a very nuanced and non heavy handed fashion.”

As a comedian and writer, he gave a perspective on how audiences today perceive dark comedy and said “I think Indian audiences are evolved enough to understand that every serious topic doesn't need a serious movie to be made . In fact , the best way to make a point that makes its way to the maximum number of people is by making it non morose and slow.”

He further added, “Cinematic discourse on race has been a largely western concept , Dibakar has brought an edgy and fresh South Asian perspective to it in this film.”

Dilli Dark stars Samuel Abiola Robinson, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan and Shantanu Anam in lead roles and is ready to premiere in Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) on October 30 and International Premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights festival in November.
