Academicians should start this year with academic brilliance: Prof (Dr) Ajay K Sharma

Jalandhar/Kapurthala: In the race of survival, on the urge of admissions and on the cycle of routine assignments, we, as academician sometimes forget to focus on realities. New Year is the time to start actual work on an important line. Academicians should start year 2020 with Academic Brilliance.

This is the message of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University. He delivered this message for all associate academician of IKG PTU on the occasion of 24th Foundation Day of University. He also chaired 52nd Academic Council of the University and addressed to members of the Council with same vision.

Before start the council meeting, Vice Chancellor inaugurated admission portal of Open & Distance Learning Program (ODL) & also released University's Wall and table Calendars 2020.

VC Prof. Sharma said that the magnificent history of IKGPTU in distance learning education has been a pioneer in the field of flexible learning of multi-entry, multi-exit by fulfilling the dreams of millions to get quality education. He invited student & academic council to support ODL. He said that with the wide choice of courses like BA Journalism, BCA, DCA, BBA, B.Com, and M.Com the students can enroll in different fields according to their area of interest. Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Director ODL (Administration) briefed about the journey of ODL and this year vision.  

During meeting, the agendas for discussion & recommendations were implementation of multiplier factor 10 instead of 9.5 for conversion from CGPA to percentage for all the students of IKGPTU, Starting of semester training for B.Tech. programme, creation of new departments from academic session 2020 and review of nomenclature of all courses. Dr. Balkar Singh, Dean Academics presented all agendas in front of Academic Council. Officiating registrar Dr S.S.Walia delivered vote of thanks.   

Apart from meeting, University Staff organized Path Sri Sukhmani Sahib & arranged "Guru Ka Langar" on the occasion of 24th Foundation Day.
