Nilokheri, January 21, 2026: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is a student organization that has consistently worked on the core principles of nationalism, discipline, and service. The organization has always made students aware not only of their academic responsibilities but also of their social and national duties. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was interacting with ABVP workers and HIRD staff on the occasion of the appointment of Dr. Sushil Mehta, Assistant Professor at the HIRD, as the State President of the ABVP for the year 2025-26.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Mehta has been appointed as the State President of the ABVP for the fourth consecutive time. Along with him, Lav Pratap Singh from Karnal has been appointed as the State Secretary. Both the newly appointed office-bearers were welcomed and felicitated with bouquets of flowers.
HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that under the leadership of experienced and dedicated workers like Dr. Sushil Mehta and Lavpratap Rana, the ABVP Haryana will become even stronger. He said that in today's time, it is extremely important to guide students in a positive direction, instill values in them, and make them aware of their responsibilities towards the nation, and the role of ABVP in this direction is very significant. He expressed confidence that the newly elected State President and State Secretary will give new impetus to student welfare, social welfare, and nation-building activities with their experience, efficiency, and organizational capabilities.
It is worth noting that Dr. Sushil Mehta is originally from Ambala. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at the HIRD. He has been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since 2015. As a teacher-activist, he has successfully discharged various responsibilities, including Ambala City President, District Head, and State Vice President. Currently, he is the State President of ABVP Haryana and has been re-elected as the State President for the upcoming session 2025-26.
Originally from Karnal district, Lavpratap Rana has been associated with ABVP since 2018. He has previously held important positions such as college unit president, district coordinator, and departmental coordinator. He currently serves as the joint secretary of ABVP Haryana.
Present on this occasion were Assistant Professors- Sandeep Kumar, Kamaldeep Sangwan, Neelam Chhikara, Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Saurabh Arora, Mahinder Singh, Mohit Kumar, Rajneesh Kumar, and others from the HIRD.
