Abolish nuclear weapons to save mankind: Dr Arun Mitra

Ludhiana, August 9, 2019: Abolition of nuclear weapons from earth is the only way to prevent catastrophe in the present situation when there are several tension spots in the world.

The medical profession has no remedy to offer in the event of a nuclear exchange. Their abolition is the only answer.

Stating this here today, Dr Arun Mitra, Co-President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War while addressing a seminar organised to pay homage to those killed during the atomic bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6th and 9th August 1945 respectively, he cautioned that in the event of a nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan using 100 atomic weapons over 2 billion people would be put at risk of starvation and death. In case of a similar exchange between US and Russia whole of modern civilization would face the danger of extinction.

Karamjeet Kaur, Principal of the school asked the students to learn from such seminar and spread the message of peace in the society.

Present on the occasion were President of the Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha Ranjeet Singh, Organising secretary M S Bhatia, Manager of the school Ravinder Kaur.
Students gave presentations against the menace of drug abuse. Saplings were planted on the occasion.
