Chandigarh, September 19, 2025: University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today hosted a grand welcome for the new batch 2025, Aarambh, at the Law Auditorium for its incoming batches of B.A. LL.B.(Hons.), B.Com LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M.
The celebration began with the traditional lighting of the lamp along with Saraswati Vandana, symbolising knowledge and wisdom, followed by a warm welcome addressbyProf. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, Director, University Institute of Legal Studies. In her address, she emphasised the importance of shaping well-rounded individuals who are not only skilled in the field of law but also enriched by experiences of community, creativityand culture. She highlighted that the Freshers’ Party is the department’s way of welcoming new students into this vibrant community of UILS, where academic excellence is combined with a spirit of camaraderie and belonging.
The Guests of Honour included Prof. (Dr.) Amit Chauhan, Dean Students Welfare; Prof. (Dr.) Namita Gupta, Dean Students Welfare (Women); and Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Mehendania, Associate Dean Students Welfare.The dignitaries extended their blessings and warm wishes to the newly admitted students, encouraging them as they set forth on their academic journey at UILS.
Event Co-ordinators Dr. Bharat and Dr. Supreet Gill, along with Dr. Abha Sethi, played a pivotal role in organising the fresher’s party.
The event was filled with lively cultural performances, including soulful musical renditions and energetic dance numbers, creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie for the new students.A highlight of the fresher’s party was the much-anticipated Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher titles, awarded to Sahibpreet Singh and Arya Sharma respectively. Mr. Personality and Miss Personality were Chamanpreet and Niharika. Mr. Vivacious and Miss Vivacious were Gurmaandeep Singh and Alvira. The event concluded on an enthusiastic note, leaving students inspired, connected, and eager to embark on their academic journey at UILS.
