Ludhiana, June 3, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly bypoll, Sanjeev Arora, visited the protesting pensioners at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Tuesday. The protest, organised under the banner of the PAU Pensioners and Retirees Welfare Association, was being held outside Thapar Hall, where former employees are raising demands related to pending dues, leave encashment, and Leave Travel Allowance (LTA).
Upon arriving at the site, Arora met with association president D.P. Maur and other members. He said he had come after hearing about their agitation and was already familiar with their demands. Arora requested their patience, stating that “they would need to wait a few more days to see the outcome of his efforts.” He emphasised that he had previously resolved many long-pending issues brought to him by the public within a matter of days.
Arora shared that he has had a strong emotional bond with the campus since long, having grown up in nearby Tagore Nagar. “Like many local residents, I have been visiting the PAU campus for morning walks for years,” he said. After being elected as an MP, he added, one of his first initiatives was to grant funds for the upgradation and renovation of the PAU Museum. “Following the renovation, the footfall at the museum has increased significantly,” he noted.
Highlighting the environmental value of PAU, Arora described the university campus as the “lungs of Ludhiana” due to its lush greenery. “I love PAU and will always stand by its people,” he concluded.
