AAP Looted Punjab, Cheated Employees & Murdered Democracy- Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal

Ludhiana, May 14, 2026: In the Ludhiana South Assembly constituency at Baba Isher Singh Nagar, near Guru Nanak Engineering College while addressing the media persons today Senior BJP leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal launched a blistering attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, accusing it of deceiving employees, pensioners, youth and the people of Punjab through false guarantees, propaganda-driven politics, financial mismanagement and complete administrative collapse.
Grewal said that nearly three lakh employees and four lakh pensioners in Punjab are still waiting for their pending Dearness Allowance instalments and arrears, while the AAP government continues to distract the public from the real crises facing the state.
Grewal said that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the Punjab government to release nearly ₹15,000 crore in pending DA dues by June 30, yet the Bhagwant Mann-led government once again approached the court instead of providing relief to employees and pensioners.
He said that the anti-employee and anti-pensioner face of the AAP government now stands fully exposed because, for the first time since Independence, a state government is reportedly challenging the very provision of granting Dearness Allowance. Grewal alleged that the AAP government argued before the court that it is not bound to increase DA, exposing its arrogant, insensitive and anti-worker mindset.
Grewal said that DA is not charity or political favour, but the rightful entitlement of employees and pensioners who have served Punjab honestly for decades. He demanded that the Punjab government immediately release all pending dues without excuses, delays or legal drama.
He further stated that while the Central Government, along with Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan, is providing nearly 60% DA to employees, Punjab government employees are still receiving only around 42%, exposing the financial bankruptcy and misplaced priorities of the AAP government.
Grewal said that before coming to power, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders made tall promises regarding jobs, employment and welfare, but today unemployed youth, contractual workers, teachers and employees are being forced onto the streets and facing police action merely for demanding their constitutional and democratic rights.
He said that the people of Punjab are now witnessing the real face of the AAP government, which came to power through emotional slogans and fake guarantees but has failed miserably on law and order, employment, drug control, governance and economic management.
Grewal said that BJP workers are not afraid of threats, intimidation or political vendetta and that the safety and security of Punjab’s people remains the top priority of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He added that the Congress has completely surrendered before the AAP government and lost whatever credibility it once had as an opposition party.
He said Punjab today needs fearless, decisive and honest leadership and that only the BJP has the vision, courage and capability to protect the lives, property and future of the people of the state.
Referring to the BJP’s governance record, Grewal said that just as Naxalism was crushed in several parts of the country under BJP governments, gangsterism, organised crime and the drug mafia will also be uprooted from Punjab through strict and fearless action.
Taking a sharp dig at the AAP leadership, Grewal said that the same people who withdrew the security cover of late singer Sidhu Moosewala and publicly disclosed the matter, thereby becoming morally responsible for his murder, are today trying to preach nationalism and patriotism while targeting Diljit Dosanjh. He said AAP leaders should first fix their own failures before lecturing others.
Grewal further alleged that, fearing defeat in the upcoming local body elections, the Punjab government and the State Election Commission are trying to conduct elections through ballot papers instead of EVMs with the intention of manipulating the results, similar to what was allegedly witnessed during panchayat elections.
He said previous local body elections were successfully conducted through EVMs and there is absolutely no justification for changing the system now except political insecurity and fear of defeat within the ruling party.
Grewal warned that the BJP strongly opposes any attempt to compromise the transparency and fairness of the democratic process and will file a formal petition before the State Election Commission on this issue. He asserted that the BJP will never allow the Aam Aadmi Party to hijack, manipulate or destroy democracy in Punjab.
