Ludhiana, October 8, 2026: BJP Ludhiana district president Sunil Modgil has attacked the Aam Aadmi Party government over the state’s healthcare system. He said the government is making claims about providing better health facilities. But the ground reality is completely different. He accused the Punjab government of playing with people’s health.
He said- CBNAAT and Truenat machines that are used for TB testing, have remained non-functional for nearly a month at 30 health centres in Ludhiana. The machines are not working due to a shortage of essential chips and cartridges, he alleged. As a result, patients are unable to get timely TB tests. Modgil said TB is a life-threatening and contagious disease. Any delay in diagnosis can affect treatment.
He also said that patients samples are now being sent to the Government Medical College in Patiala for advanced testing. It takes five to six days for the reports to arrive.
“This delay is affecting the treatment of TB patients,” Modgil said. He also questioned the government’s claims of providing better healthcare facilities to people. Modgil demanded immediate action from the state government. He said the supply of chips and cartridges must be restored without delay.
He also demanded that all non-functional machines be repaired at the earliest. Free TB testing should be ensured at government hospitals, he said. He said patients should not be forced to wait for days for basic diagnostic tests.
