AAP Government Has Failed to Ensure Public Safety in Punjab: Sukhjinder Randhawa

Chandigarh, June 1, 2026: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party government over the continuously deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, asking whether this was the so-called “Rangla Punjab” he had promised, where people are being shot over minor disputes and murdered in broad daylight. He said Punjab is increasingly turning into a “blood-stained Punjab.” The people of Punjab now want answers as to when this bloodshed will stop and under whose protection criminals are being given a free hand.
Randhawa stated that in Jandiala Guru, government school teacher Jagdeep Singh was murdered in broad daylight while he was taking his daughter to tuition classes. Similarly, in Makhu (Ferozepur), grocery store owner Gurcharan Singh was shot. In addition, incidents of open firing were reported in Ludhiana, while a bomb threat targeting the court complex in Jalandhar created panic throughout the area. Earlier, two miscreants injured a police Home Guard posted at the Harike Pattan outpost in Ferozepur and fled after snatching his weapon.
Randhawa said the situation in Punjab has become so alarming that ordinary citizens no longer feel safe stepping out of their homes. According to him, law and order in the state has completely collapsed. Criminals neither fear the police nor the government. Cases of murder, gang wars, robberies, and firing incidents are being reported daily, forcing the people of Punjab to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
He further said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has completely failed and is pushing Punjab toward a state of lawlessness. The government, he alleged, has no concrete plan to curb crime. He demanded that the Punjab government take immediate and stringent measures to restore law and order and ensure action against criminals without any political interference or pressure.
