AAP Government Bows to BJP’s ‘Save Land, Save Farmers’ Campaign Pressure – Baliawal

Ludhiana, August 13, 2025: Under pressure from the BJP’s ‘Zameen Bachao, Kisan Bachao’ campaign and in solidarity with farmers and labourers, the Aam Aadmi Party government was compelled to withdraw its controversial Land Pooling Policy. Marking this victory, BJP Punjab, led by party spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal, celebrated ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas’ today by distributing sweets in the native village of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian in the Sahnewal constituency.

Calling it a triumph not just for farmers and labourers but for every Punjabi, Baliawal said this was the defeat of the AAP government’s alleged plan to forcibly acquire village lands and hand them over to Delhi-based dealers. He credited the residents of Sahnewal and the people of Punjab for standing united in this struggle.

Baliawal highlighted that attempts to acquire land in 40 villages of Sahnewal constituency through land pooling had been thwarted earlier through Gram Sabha and Panchayat resolutions, though the government had initially refused to accept them. “From the very beginning, BJP has been fighting for farmers’ rights and will continue to do so. If any government, regardless of party, tries to grab farmers’ land, BJP will take to the streets in strong opposition,” he asserted.

Advising farmers to remain vigilant, Baliawal cautioned that the AAP government could attempt to reintroduce the policy through other means. He reaffirmed that BJP Punjab would always stand at the forefront to protect farmers’ rights and expose anti-farmer actions of the Bhagwant Singh Mann government.

The celebration saw the participation of BJP leaders Pinku Sharma, Manmeet Singh Chawla (District Vice President), Sania Sharma (Women President), Lovedeep Singh Panesar (Vice President), Vinod Rana (Mandal President), Sukhwinder Singh Grewal, and other party workers.
