AAP Delegation Meets CPDL Management in Chandigarh Over Protest

Chandigarh, April 1, 2026: In view of the protest held by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), it is stated that a delegation of the party, led by its Chandigarh unit President Vijay Pal Singh, met the CPDL management at its Sector 34 office on March 24, 2026.
During the meeting, all the concerns and issues raised by the delegation were addressed. The delegation was informed that CPDL has transitioned from a bi-monthly billing system to a monthly billing cycle in compliance with the JERC directive.
Regarding the two bills issue, it was further clarified to the AAP delegation that the bills were for two separate consumption periods—January and February and there is no overlapping.
Regarding the tariff hike, it was clarified to the AAP delegation that CPDL is a power distribution company and does not determine power tariffs. The tariff rates, including any hikes in the UT, are set by JERC.
Regarding delay in delivery of bills, CPDL further strengthened bill delivering system. Also developed an additional digital mechanism to access bills on WhatsApp.
To further address consumer concerns and ensure better grievance redressal, CPDL had also proposed holding camps across various localities to assist residents and resolve queries, if any.
