Aadhaar Empowerment Drive for Kangra district with special campaign targets children aged zero to five

Dharamsala, January 3, 2023: To address the gap in Aadhaar card registration among children aged zero to five years in Kangra district, a dedicated campaign is set to kick off. Anganwadi workers have been mobilized to compile a comprehensive database of children in this age group who currently lack Aadhaar cards. The initiative aims not only to create awareness but also to encourage parents to enroll their children for Aadhaar cards.

Sharing this initiative, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Jassal revealed that approximately 38 thousand children aged zero to five in Kangra district still do not possess Aadhaar cards. In response to this gap, a targeted campaign has been planned to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Emphasizing the importance of Aadhaar cards, the Additional Deputy Commissioner highlighted that it is crucial for children to update their Aadhaar cards when they reach the ages of five and fifteen. Schools play a vital role in facilitating this process, with students advised to liaise with headmasters or principals for necessary updates. The linkage of Aadhaar cards is particularly crucial for accessing scholarships and other essential services. Failure to update Aadhaar information may lead to complications in receiving such benefits.

Additionally, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized the necessity for all citizens to update their Aadhaar cards at least once every ten years. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UDAI) has set March 14, 2024, as the deadline for the latest round of Aadhaar updates. Aadhaar, being a critical document, serves as a gateway for citizens to access various schemes offered by both the Central and State Governments. Individuals seeking to create or update their Aadhaar cards can conveniently reach out to the nearest Aadhaar center or the local post office for assistance.
