A Grand Celebration of Cultures: PCTE Concludes International Student Week 2026
The International Student Week (ISW) 2026, hosted by the PCTE Group of Institutes, concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony, marking the successful completion of a week-long celebration of international culture, sports, and talent. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from international students representing numerous countries, reflecting the institute’s strong commitment to global harmony and multiculturalism.
Ludhiana: The International Student Week (ISW) 2026, hosted by the PCTE Group of Institutes, concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony, marking the successful completion of a week-long celebration of international culture, sports, and talent. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from international students representing numerous countries, reflecting the institute’s strong commitment to global harmony and multiculturalism.
The celebrations began with a cultural excursion to Chhatbir Zoo, offering students a chance to explore the region and experience its natural and cultural richness. The week then moved into the sporting segment, with football, basketball, and volleyball competitions generating high energy and excitement among participants.
The play-off matches commenced on February 11, featuring intense and competitive encounters that culminated in thrilling finals. Liberia emerged as a dominant force in the sports arena, winning top honors in soccer (boys), while Zimbabwe clinched the title in the volleyball (girls) category. The matches showcased exemplary sportsmanship, teamwork, and unity among students from different nations.
A major attraction of ISW 2026 was the World Culinary Carnival, where students from countries including Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Tanzania, Swaziland, Burundi, Rwanda, Gambia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Liberia, Malawi, DR Congo, South Africa, Bhutan, and Zambia presented authentic traditional cuisines. The event turned into a celebration of global flavours and cultural exchange, drawing appreciation from students, faculty, and guests alike.
On February 19, the much-awaited Global Village was organised, transforming the campus into a colourful hub of international cultures. Students displayed traditional attire, artifacts, and customs, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to interact with diverse cultures and gain deeper insights into global traditions.
The week concluded with a grand finale featuring a fashion show, traditional dance performances, and musical presentations by international students. The closing ceremony ended with a prize distribution, honouring winners of sports events, culinary competitions, and cultural performances. The grand finale was graced by the Chief Guest, Sunaina Mohan, Chargé d’ Affaires, Embassy of Suriname to India who appreciated PCTE’s efforts in promoting international understanding and cultural integration.
Addressing the gathering, Harpreet Kaur Kang, Dean – International Affairs, said that International Student Week 2026 served as a powerful platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. She added that such initiatives strengthen global bonding on campus and reaffirm PCTE’s vision of nurturing responsible global citizens.
