95902 Cases settled during national Lok Adalat in Ludhiana 

Ludhiana, December 13, 2025: The National Lok Adalat was held at Judicial Courts, Ludhiana succeeded in resolving several matrimonial disputes under the supervision of Harpreet Kaur Randhawa, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana.
In one such matter, two appeals u/s 138 NI Act (Cheque bouncing case), were taken up by the bench of Barinder Singh Ramana, Addl. Sessions Judge, Ludhiana in the National Lok Adalat held today. The appeal was filed on 29.10.2024 and today the matter was taken up in the National Lok Adalat and with the efforts of Harpreet Kaur Randhawa, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana the cheque amount of Rs.30,00,000 was settled for Rs.11,50,000. The convict/appellant accordingly agreed to pay the compromised amount of Rs. 11,50,000 so settled in the National Lok Adalat by next date of hearing of the appeal. Both the parties mutually agreed to settle the said dispute amicably and got recorded their statements for compromise in the said bench.
In another matrimonial matter pending in the court of Raman Kumar, Principal Judge Family Court, Ludhiana was also taken up in National Lok Adalat today. Petition was filed on 29.11.2021 and as per petition, she married the respondent as per the Sikh rituals and no child was born out of their wedlock. The parties were living separately since 17.12.2024. Efforts were made by District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana and matter got compromised between the parties and the parties decided to reside together and agree to withdraw all their pending litigations. 
Other cases of Criminal/compoundable, 138 NI Act, Motor Accident claim, Matrimonial disputes, Land acquisition cases, Money recovery cases, PSPCL and of Permanent Lok Adalat etc are taken up and solved during this National Lok Adalat. 
During the National Lok Adalat, a total of 97455 cases were taken up and 95902 Cases were settled and awards worth around Rs.1106851093/- were passed. 
Sumit Sabharwal, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana said that during the National Lok Adalat, 39 benches were set up at District Level and 10 benches were set up at Sub-Divisional Level. She claimed that people showed great enthusiasm for the settlement of cases in the National Lok Adalat.
Addl. Sessions Judges Saru Mehta Kaushik, Dr. Rajneesh, Barinder Singh Ramana, Ranjeev Kumar Vishist, Parminder Kaur, Raman Kumar, Amit Thind, Gurpartap Singh, Harpreet Kaur, other Civil Judges/Magistrates, Chairman Permanent Lok Adalat Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Presiding Officer industrial Tribunal Kewal Krishan alongwith Members and Social Workers headed different Lok Adalat benches.
Lastly, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Ludhiana informed that there are number of benefits of these National Lok Adalats as decisions are passed through compromise which leads to peace and tranquillity among the parties and society at large. Orders regarding refund of entire Court fee are made in Lok Adalat enabling the people have satisfaction in settling the matter.
