73rd Independence Day

Jalandhar, August 14, 2019: 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great hush and show in Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.

The event begun with floral welcome of Dr.Sucharita, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. On the occasion, she did a plantation and released the tri-coloured balloons. Shreya Maini and Abhinav Gupta, President SWA, put forth that to make our incredible India, incredible in true sense forever, we should contribute our part honestly in it. Later, the audience was enthralled with a musical performance immersed in patriotism and love for nation. The students sung “Rang De Basanti Chola” under the tutelage of Dr. Vivek Verma, Department of Music Vocal.

The audience was also reminisced of the journey of India from the dusk of slavery to the dawn of independence which has been achieved due to the sacrifices of selfless freedom fighters through a power point presentation by Mr. Vishavbandhu Verma, Department of History.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma shared her pearls of wisdom. She put forth that we are fortunate that we have took birth in an independent nation. This freedom and democracy which we are experiencing is because once upon a time some selfless people laid down their lives. So, now it is our turn that we should contribute for the growth of country and should always choose the right paths in our life.
A “Nukkad Natak” titled “Sab Chalda Hai” was enacted by the students of Department of Theatre where the issues prevalent in present society were presented with a pinch of sarcasm; thus highlighting where our nation is leading today and a question was raised that how much the lives laid by our freedom fighters have been justified by us? This performance indeed raised goosebumps which the students have presented under the guidance of their mentor Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Department of Theatre.

The celebrations were concluded with an energetic dance performance i.e. “Luddi” one of the dance forms of Punjab and filled the whole audience with enthusiasm and joy.

Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma congratulated Dr. Manisha Sharma, Dean SWA for successfully organizing the events.
