7 DCs summoned for failing to provide RTI information in HP

Shimla/Dharamsala, January 15, 2014: On failing to provide requisite information to public information officers at headquarters level, chief information commissioner, Himachal Pradesh, has issued show cause notices to deputy commissioners of Chamba, Kangra, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Una under Section 20 of RTI Act as to why they be not penalised for resultant delay. The notices further said that in case the action taken is awaited by them from the particular SDMs under their jurisdiction, then those SDMs be directed to explain their position as to why they be not penalised for delay as per the provisions of Section 20 of the Act.
Chief information commissioner has fixed February 11 as next date to hear the replies from concerned deputy commissioners. Besides these seven deputy commissioners, PIO-cum-deputy director, rural development department, Kasumpti, Shimla, has also been directed to appear before CIC on February 11.
Hearing the RTI application case filed by Dev Ashish Bhattacharya, CIC Bhim Sen in his interim order said that the state government directions to review and to take the steps to exclude the ineligibles and to include the eligible in the BPL list is pending for compliance for more than one year, despite there being a time limit of one month for action.// shimla news update, shimla information, shimla news, himachal news online, himachal news shimla, himachal news in english, himachal news today, himachal news, india news,
