Prof. S. Ramakrishnan, Director Tata Institute of Fundamental research (TIFR) Mumbai.

Chandigarh, December 15, 2021: The 6th Prof. B.M. Anand Memorial Lecture organized in online mode by Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. S. Ramakrishnan, Director Tata Institute of Fundamental research (TIFR) Mumbai delivered a talk on “Achieving ultra-low temperatures and Physics at those temperatures”. Prof. Ramakrishnan started with the history of the low temperature physics, how to achieve low temperature and how to measure such low temperature. He described the superconductivity phenomena and discussed about the various elements in the periodic table which shows superconductivity behavior. Later he discussed the physics at low temperature and shown some of the devices built In India to achieve low temperature and finally gave future physics prospect with low temperature physics.
Prof. M.M. Gupta, Professor Emeritus Panjab University presided the seminar.
Around 200 participants attended the online programme.
