67th Independence Day Celebrations at CMC, Ludhiana

The 67th Independence Day being celebrated at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, August 15, 2013: The 67th Independence Day celebration of our nation was celebrated with much enthusiasm and fanfare at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana.

The Chief Guest for the day was NC Gupta from the Trident and Abhishek group who hoisted the national tricolor flag. Following this, NC Gupta took the salute at the march past comprising of the students of the five colleges of Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society and the security services of the Institution.

Dr. Abraham G Thomas, Director of CMC, Ludhiana introduced the Chief Guest, NC Gupta as a true patriot who witnessed the independence struggle, and commented for his invaluable contribution to Ludhiana and to the Nation.

The Chief Guest honored Rev JN Noel for his dedicated service as the Chaplain of CMC spanning four decades and released a collection of poems penned by him.

This was followed by a colorful cultural programme from the student community displaying the unity in diversity of our country. The highlight of the programme was ‘fusion choreography’ led by Dr. HS Bedi, Head of the Cardiothoracic Department.

Immediately after this there were throw-ball and volleyball matches between students of Christian Medical College and Christian Dental College where both teams were cheered by the respective college with great gusto and the better team deserved the accolades.

Earlier in the day the celebrations started with a special thanksgiving service at the CMC College Chapel, where Dr. Shaila, Associate Professor in the department of Pedodontics gave the message, where she emphasised the meaning of true freedom.

This year’s celebrations were coordinated by the Christian Dental College.
