Jalandhar, May 2, 2023: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised the Annual Convocation in order to celebrate the successful completion of academic levels of its scholars. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. The proceedings of this formal event commenced with the lighting of the holy lamp.  

Welcoming the eminent and illustrious guest, KMV Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi read out a detailed report of the college enumerating the Vidyalaya's meritorious achievements at national as well as international levels in diverse fields like academics, co-academics, sports, NCC and many more. She averred that KMV, the first Autonomous women institution in Punjab, is also only institution under GNDU to bag prestigious FIST and CURIE grant by DST, New Delhi. Furthermore, this prestigious position that bestows the college the role of an official mentor appointed by UGC to guide 8 institutions. Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal presided over the function & in his presidential remarks, welcomed the acclaimed academician Dr. Sandhu on this occasion. Sh. Chander Mohan stressed that all educational institutions and policy makers cannot rest on past laurels, therefore they must resolve to combat challenges faced by youth in Punjab by bringing about transformational changes in educational landscape like KMV. Dr Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. S.P. Gupta & other members of KMV Managing Committee also graced the occasion. 

The Chief Guest Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu congratulated the young scholars on receiving their degrees and also shared his illuminating views on Nation-building. Acknowledging the colossal contribution of KMV, he maintained that visionary, able and progressive leadership of KMV is steering not only the Institution to newer heights in all spheres but has also contributed immensely to its parent university Guru Nanak Dev University in bringing rich laurels and honours in all spheres of excellence. He was very much appreciative of KMV for providing quality based education to the students as university feels proud in awarding degrees to the scholars of this autonomous institution. 

In his message to the degree holders, he reiterated that one must become tough by swimming against the tide with honesty and undeviating pursuance of one’s goal as youth must learn to carve a niche of their own because treading the untrodden path rewards one with eminence, and that should be the aim of education. On this occasion PG Department of Hindi also released 16th  issue of their research journal ‘Unmeelan’. 

The formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Sushma Chawla who expressed her gratitude to all dignitaries for gracing the occasion with their presence. A cultural dance presentation showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our country followed by National Anthem marked the culmination of the event. 

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English & Dr. Sabina Batra for successfully organising the convocation.
