5th Panchkula District Shastrang Championship Concludes Successfully
The 5th Panchkula District Shastrang Championship was successfully held on August 23-24 at Shastrang, SCO-193, 2nd Floor, Sector-16, Panchkula. The two-day championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100 young athletes across various schools of Panchkula.

The two-day championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100 young athletes across various schools of Panchkula.
"We are thrilled by the energy and talent showcased by the young athletes during the championship. Each year, the level of competition and spirit of sportsmanship continues to grow. Our aim is not only to promote Shastrang as a martial art but also to instill the values of discipline, self-confidence, and respect among the youth," said Grandmaster Bikram Singh Thapa, 9th Degree Black Belt.
Participants competed in multiple age categories – Under-10, Under-14, Under-17, Under-19, Under-22, and Above-22 (Boys & Girls) – across a variety of events including Target Drill, Defence Drill, Air Shield Combat, Combat Combo, and Speed Combat.
The medal ceremony, held on the evening of 24th August, was graced by Anurag Aggarwal, additional Chief Secretary to Government, Haryana, PW (B&R) and Architecture Department, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation & Water Resources, and Advisor, Haryana Saraswati Heritage Board, as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the young athletes, Aggarwal commended their dedication and highlighted the importance of learning self-defence skills in today’s world. He encouraged parents to actively support their children's interest in martial arts and emphasized its role in fostering discipline, confidence, and physical fitness.
Around 100 young participants competed in the U-10, U-14, U-17, U-19, U-22 & A-22 (Boys & Girls) categories, representing various schools of Panchkula. The championship featured the following events: Target Drill, Defence Drill, Air Shield Combat, Combat Combo, and Speed Combat.
The results of the championship are as follows:
In the Target Drill Boys category, Rishik Gupta (Shastrang) and Saurav Kumar (Lohia) secured 1st place in their respective Under 10 and Under 14 weight classes. Sarthak Bhardwaj (Shastrang) also won 1st in the Under 14, 52 & Above class. For Under 17, Anas Salmani (MRA) and Shivam Sharma (Shastrang) were 1st in their weight classes. Garv Khosla (Shastrang) won 1st in the Under 22, 66-69 weight class, and Kamal (Shastrang) was 1st in the Above 22, 72-75 weight class.
In Defense Drill Boys, Rishik Gupta (Shastrang) was 1st in the Under 10, 24-28 weight class. Ibhav (Valley) and Inder Prasad (Shastrang) secured 1st place in their Under 14 and Under 17 categories, respectively.
For Air Shield Combat, Aariv Sharma (Shastrang) was 1st in the Under 17, 60 & Above category. Kunal (Shastrang) and Ravi Kumar (Shastrang) also achieved 1st place in their Under 19 and Above 22 weight classes.
In the Target Drill Girls category, Aradhita Grover (Shastrang) and Shambhavi Sood (Shastrang) placed 1st in their Under 10 weight classes. Reet Arora (Shastang), Shanaya (Xavier), Amaira Grover (Shastrang), and Ananya Rana (Shastrang) all secured 1st place in their respective Under 14 and Under 17 categories. Kanchan (Shastrang) won 1st in the Under 19, 42-45 weight class.
In Defense Drill Girls, Anaysha Chauhan (Shastrang), Alankrita Singh (Shastrang), Tanishi Bhardwaj (Shastrang), and Deeya Patwal (Shastrang) all achieved 1st place in their respective Under 10, Under 14, and Under 17 weight classes.
Anjali Kumari (Shastrang) was 1st in the Air Shield Combat Girls, Above 22, 51-54 weight class.
In Speed Combat Girls, Manasvi (Shastrang) was 1st in the Under 10, 8-10 weight class.
In Combat Combo Girls, Shambhavi (Shastrang) was 1st in the Under 10, 8-10 weight class.
