5th Edition of CII Northern Region Healthcare Summit shines a spotlight on health innovation

New Delhi, October 11, 2023: The CII Northern Region Healthcare Summit marked its 5th successful edition today, bringing together healthcare industry leaders, innovators, and experts from around the world to discuss, deliberate, and drive positive changes in the healthcare sector. This year's summit showcased groundbreaking sessions that addressed crucial topics, including "Innovation Transforming Hospital Operations," "Reinventing Healthcare with Technology," and "Building Resilient Health Infrastructure: Challenges and Solutions."

 
Dr Dharminder Nagar, Summit Chairman & Chairman, CII Regional Committee on Healthcare and Managing Director, Paras Health while addressing the Summit emphasised collaborating cutting-edge technology with our ancient methods for making a resilient healthcare system. He also delved into the dire need of leveraging technology to the maximum, for a better and efficient healthcare ecosystem.

 
Understanding the changing need of the healthcare ecosystem, Dr Upasana Arora, Co-Chairperson, CII Regional Committee on Healthcare and Director, Yashoda Super Specialty Hospitals highlighted that experiential learning is very important for doctors. India is focusing on Medical Value Travel, especially for catering to countries that are not able to provide healthcare on time.
 

Shailesh Nigam, COO, AAF International – EEMEA, CIS & SAARC pointed out that the air inside can be 2-5 times more pollutant than the air outside, and we must pay attention to what air we breathe. We have the power to heal and protect and we must think about the air we are breathing inside as hospitals must make people heal not sicker.

 
As the systems around healthcare change, Dr Devendra Khandait, Deputy Director, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation further emphasised on triangulation of multiple health data points for decision-making in Health using interoperability as a principle for the way ahead.

 
Vikram Pagaria, Joint Director - Coordination, ABDM, National Health Authority, Government of India, noted that “ABDM aims to leverage technology for creating an accessible, affordable and inclusive healthcare ecosystem. The scheme is universal where each individual gets a unique ABHA ID which allows them to digitally access and manage their health records. To promote ABDM adoption, we’ve introduced the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) where different healthcare service providers and health tech innovators can participate.”
 

With a focus on innovation, technology, and infrastructure, the summit served as a platform for networking, learning, and sharing best practices in healthcare. Technology and AI-revamped healthcare infrastructure emerged as the key pillars for an efficient healthcare system to serve a population of 130 crores.
