5th Annual Athletics Meet begins at Guru Kashi University

Talwandi Sabo, November 6, 2015: The 5th annual Inter College Athletics Meet begun at Guru Kashi University in which all the six constituent colleges of GKU and teams of diploma and B.Ed.College participated. Shri Rahul Gupta, PCS Director Sports Punjab was the chief guest of the Inaugural function who declared the meet open after unfurling the university flag.
During addressing the students Shri Rahul Gupta threw light on the importance of games and physical activities. He told students that they can use their energy in a positive manner with the help of games. 
Chief guest and others guests took salute from the March Past of various teams and on the basis of results Physical College and Guru Gobind Singh College of Education were declared winner and runner up of March Past. 
Gurlabh Singh Sidhu Chairman, Sukhraj Singh Sidhu MD, Er. Sukhwinder Singh General Seceratory, Dr. N.S. Malhi Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jagpal Singh Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal President Sports Committee and Dr. Kewal Singh Director Sports GKU were special guest of the occasion and also blessed the staff and students.
From the 1st day events in 1500 meter (Men) race Gurjeet Singh (Physical Education College), Gurpreet Singh and Manjinder Singh (both of Basic Sciences College) were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.  On the other hand in 1500 meter (Women) Satveer Kaur and Anju Bala  (both Physical College) and Amandeep Kaur (Basic Sciences College) snatched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. In the competition of women Discuss Throw Anju Bala and  Mandeep Kaur (both Physical Education) and Kirandeep Kaur (Basic Sciences College) were declared winners. In long Jump (Women) Veerpal Kaur (student of Physical College), Jasdeep Kaur and Rajdeep Kaur (Agri. College) snatched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kewal Singh, Director Sports, GKU said that university was committed in providing international level sports and infrastructure and other facilities to the sports persons and coaches. He said that the university was taking necessary initiatives for the promotion and development of sports in the University. 
Apart from others All Dean, Directors, other officials, staff members and students graced the occasion.
