Chandigarh, November 7, 2019: The Department of Biophysics has organized a special lecture “Guru Nanak : Yug Purush” to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, by Prof.Ishwar D.Gaur, Department of Evening Studies, Multi Disciplinary Research Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He gave very enlightening talk stating that Baba Nanak belongs to all and cannot be fossilized. He highlighted various names of Baba Nanak used all over the world such as guru, baba, sadh, darvesh, peer and fakir. He also mentioned all the historic contributions of Guru Nanak to the audience.
The Chairperson Dr. Sarvnarinder Kaur thanked Prof. Gaur on behalf of the Department of Biophysics for an enlightening lecture.
Meanwhile, the celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was hosted at Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh by Panjab University Zoological Society (PUZS), here today. Various events like poster making, declamation contest, poetry, just a min debate and scientific paper presentation were conducted throughout the day on the theme of relevance of teaching of Guru Nanak Devi ji in the modern era. The programme started with “Shabad Kirtan” performed by the students which purified the whole environment and the souls of all who were present there. A video displaying the life journey of Guru Nanak Ji was also played. Dr. Gurpal Singh (Department of Evening Studies) was the chief guest of the function and he shed light on important facts about teaching of Guru Granth Sahib and shared his experiences of visit to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan with the audience. The Chairperson, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, introduced the chief guest and blessed the students. The function concluded with prize distribution function. The results of the various competitions are as under:
