Chandigarh, May 16, 2015: As many as 5,138 candidates appeared today for the entrance test for admission to B.A/B.Com LL.B (Hons) Five Years Integrated Courses in various institutes of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
The entrance test was conducted for the B.A/B.Com. LL.B (Hons.) Five Years Integrated Courses at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) at PU Campus, Chandigarh and its Regional Centres at Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana. UILS, a constituent department of PU, has emerged as a premier Legal Institute of the region. The admissions for the B.A/B.Com. LL.B (Hons.) in PU are based on this entrance test and the marks in the Qualifying Examination (+2). Qualifying Examination (+2) and the Entrance Test marks each carries 50 percent weightage.
Apart from foreign nationals/NRIs, there are 120 seats each in B.A. LL.B.(Hons.) 5 years integrated course and B.Com LL.B.(Hons.) 5 years integrated course at UILS PU Campus.
There are 87 seats of B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) 5 year integrated course at UILS, PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana. There are 60 open seats in B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) at UILS, Swami Sarvanand Giri, PU Regional Centre Hoshiarpur.
PU Spokesperson informed that 5,749 students had applied for enterance test and 89.37 percent of them appeared in the entrance test. 21 centres were set up in Chandigarh to conduct the examination, he added. Previous year, about 4,400 candidates had appeared and the attendance was 91.1 percent. The increased number of applicants at the entrance test indicates that PU is emerging as a preferred option among the students, he added. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
