Rohtak, February 18, 2026: A 5-day workshop on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is being organized by the Department of Planning and Architecture at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA).
In this workshop, architecture students are being taught to use modern technology in urban development planning.
Dr. Pawan Kumar, a geospatial technology expert, provided information on the use of GIS. Dr. Ajay Kaushik, Dean, Academic Affairs, and Ajay Bahu Joshi, FC, Faculty of Planning and Architecture, welcomed the expert.
Joshi said that this workshop is not just about learning software, but aims to empower students to design smarter and more resilient cities through the power of geographic data. He explained that the practical sessions scheduled during the five-day workshop will cover complex geographic modeling, helping students envision the future of urban environments with accuracy and foresight.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the workshop aims to equip students with the cutting-edge technical skills required for modern urban development, thereby empowering future architects and planners. He added that the workshop is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical urban planning and practical, data-driven strategies. Students are expected to master advanced spatial analysis, transforming their approach to regional development, environmental mapping, and urban infrastructure.
