Jalandhar, March 22, 2014: Nowadays, man’s life schedule has become so hectic that he has become like a robot. No time for exercise and no time for enjoying. Sports play a vital role in keeping our body fit and also acts as a source of recreation. So, KCL-IMT organised .The meet started at 10 am with flag March and Oath ceremony.
Varinder Singh Olympian, Divisional Assistant –Commercial Manager, Northern Railway, Ferozepur was invited as the Chief Guest at the annual sports meet of KCLIMT and LKC Engineering. He has been the student of Lyallpur Khalsa College from 1963 to 1968 where he completed MA in history and represented college and university in the same period. He had been the best student of college in 1966 and represented Indian Railway team from 1970 to 1983. Under his captaincy, his team won National Championship in a row from 1974 to 1977. He represented Indian in 1976 and won International Rene Frank tournament in Madras and won gold medal. He represented India in Pre Olympic in 1979 at Moscow, in Asian games in 1974 and 1978, Munich Olympics in 1972, Munich Olympics in 1972, Montreal Olympics in 1976. He also represented India in 1973, 1975 and 1978 World Cups snd won medals for the country.
Balbir Kaur (President, Governing Council), Jaspal Singh Waraich (Joint Secretary), Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director Academics), Dr.S.K Sood (Director KCLIMT), Prof G.K Jain (Vice – Principal) blow away the balloons and declared the sports meet open.
Varinder Singh Olympian gave the opening speech. He hoisted the national flag. Dr. S.K Sood (Director) hoisted the college flag and captains hoisted the house flags. After that Balbir Kaur (President, Governing Council),Jaspal Singh Waraich (Joint Secretary), Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director Academics), Dr.S.K Sood (Director KCLIMT), Dr.H.S Johal (Dirctor,LKCE), Prof G.K Jain (Vice – Principal) felicitated the chief guest by presenting bouquet and Award of Honour.
Dr.H.S Johal (Director, LKCE) welcomed the Chief Guest and he read the Annual Report of the Institute in which he stated that “our Institutes are not only excelling in academics but for overall personality development of students we organise different cultural and sports events .This is evident from the fact that since inception we are organising sports meet and this is our fourth annual sports meet in which students of Management, IT and B.Tech are participating with great enthusiasm.”
Varinder Singh Olympian stated that along with quality education, Institutes and Universities should make Physical Education Compulsory, because Healthy mind lives in Healthy body. He emphasised that in Punjab if we have to fight with drugs we have to focus our students towards sports.
The different events included were as under: 100 mt race(boys & girls) , lemon race, sack race, three leg race, matka race, chess, badminton, long jump, cricket match and tug-o-war. There was the close competition between different classes to win the first prize.
SardarniBalbir Kaur (President, Governing Council) ,S.Jaspal Singh Waraich (Joint Secretary), S.Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director Academics) , Dr.S.K Sood (Director KCLIMT),Prof G.K Jain (Vice – Principal),Dr.H.S Johal (Director,LKCE) gave away the prizes to winners. Faculty members also participated in sports meet. The dignitaries present Dr. Kuldeep Kaur(Principal,LKC for women), Prof Raman Deol ,Prof Kamal Nain Sharma ,DrInderpal Singh ,Prof Navjit ,Prof Rameshwar Prof Nidhi,Prof R.S Hundal,ProfHitesh,ProfPawan ,Prof Kiran and Prof Deepika.
Dr.S.K Sood (Director) presented vote of Thanks to the dignitaries, representatives from media, faculty and the students. He congratulated the staff and students for organizing such a successful event.

100 Meter Race Boys Gold Medal won by Dinesh B.Tec CE , Silver Medal Manpreet M.B.A-I , Bronze Medal Jaskaran B.Tec ECE .
100 Meter Race Girls Gold Medal won by Rupinder B.C.A. –VI , Silver by Jaswinder Kaur MCA , Bronze medal by Meena MCA-II KCL.
Long Jump Boys Gold Medal Karan B.Tec ECE , Silver Medal Pawan Kumar MBA-II Bronze Raj Kumar B.Tec ECE .
Long Jump Girls Gold Medal won by Harpreet Kaur MCA , Silver Medal Ritu Jampal , Bronze Medal Rupinder Kaur KCL.
Badminton Girls Gold Medal won by Manpreet Kaur MBA-II , Silver Medal Won by Navjot Kaur ,Bronze Medal won by Navneet Kaur .
Chess Gold Medal won by Arun Sharma B.Tec ( ME ) Silver Medal by Bhauish Kumar and Bronze Medal won by Rajat Manocha.
