46th AGM of UCPMA remains peaceful

The 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Ludhiana being held on Monday.

Ludhiana, August 19, 2013: The 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Ludhiana held here today, under the president ship of Gurmeet Singh Kular.
Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Mayor, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest and Hira Singh Gabria was the Guest of Honour.
The 45th AGM minutes were read out by the General Secretary and were approved by the House unanimously.
Annual financial balance sheet for the year 2012-13 was read out and was also approved by the General House.
Speaking on the occasion, Kular spoke about the main achievements of the association. The achievements included VAT refund were got disbursed to the members worth Rs. 45 crore on recommendation of UCPMA, PSPCL withdrew rebate of 7.5% w.e.f 2010 but with the representation of UCPMA this rebate was again sanctioned, stamp duty worth Rs. 56 lakh was not charged from M/s. Gurdip Cycle Industries on the recommendation of the President of UCPMA from the office of the District Collector, exemption of SAC (Site Appraisal Committee) approved in designated and industrial zone area on the recommendation of the UCPMA, subsidy worth Rs. 32, 49,246 was disbursed by UCPMA for National and International Exhibitions an another subsidy worth Rs. 19, 23,350 was sanctioned form MSME Delhi and will be disbursed shortly, visit arrange of Principal Secretary, Karan Avtar Singh, IAS to left over areas of mix land use resulting in recommendation of these areas to secretary urban development PUDA to include these areas in the Master Plan, recommendation of 33% areas of the factories at Focal Points be used as residential for labour which has been sent for approval to the Board of Directors PSIEC, in order to save Micro and Small Industries recommendation to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister was made regarding import of bicycle and bicycle parts which resulted in increase of excise duty from 16 % to 30% and recovery of land cost enhancement from the allottees of Phase-VIII, Focal Point from Rs. 222 PSY to Rs. 24 PSY for Industrial Plots.
Further highlighting the achievements, Kular said zoning certificate by Charted Engineer instead of Director of Factories, wave off late payment fee by PPCB , establishment of Bicycle Research and Development Organisation (BRADO), approval of Rs. 45 crore from UNIDO for the technology upgradation of bicycle and bicycle parts industries and addition of HRA in minimum wages.
On the occasion, Bicycle Udyog Awards were given to industrialists who showed various achievements and innovation for the betterment of the bicycle industry.

Interestingly, various draws were drawn from time to time in the meeting with first prize of Samsung Galaxy s4, second prize of Laptop, 3rd prize of refrigerator, 4th prize of micro oven and were presented to various winners in the AGM.
Ist Prize Samsung Galaxy s4 sponsored by M/S Avon Cycles Limited was given to M/S Sharma Bikes vide token no 560.
3rd Prize of Refrigerator sponsored by M/S S.K Bikes Pvt Ltd was given to M/S Radha Enterprises vide token no 456.
4th Prize Microwave Oven sponsored by M/S Big- Ben Exports was given to M/S Sohal Industries (India) vide token no 234.
In their address, Gabria and Gohalwaria said they would leave no stone unturned to overcome the difficulties being faced by the cycle industries. They also congratulated the president alongwith the team for holding such a “peaceful” AGM.
Both were honoured with mementoes. Among others, O.P Munjal, Onkar Singh Pahwa, Lalit Sharma, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Kamalinder Kumar Singla, Rajan Gupta , Ravi Mahajan,  K.K Seth, Sanjeev Pahwa, Joginder Kumar, Parveen Kumar Gupta, D.S Chawla, Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma and G.L Pahwa, Manmohan Singh Matron were present.
