Chandigarh, February 27, 2026: Dr. SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (Dr. SSBUICET), Panjab University, in association with the DCET Alumni Association, Chandigarh today hosted a memorable Alumni Meet at the Bhatnagar Auditorium, commemorating the 45th Alumni Reunion Meet (Sapphire Jubilee) of the 1981 batch. The occasion was filled with nostalgia, shared laughter, and a profound appreciation for the institution that has nurtured and shaped generations of chemical engineers.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Chairperson Prof. Anupama Sharma, who highlighted the remarkable progress of the department over the years and emphasized the pivotal role played by its illustrious alumni in strengthening the institute’s legacy at national and global levels. She reiterated the department’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and stronger alumni engagement.

A group photograph and high tea provided the perfect setting for reconnecting with old friends, classmates, and faculty members. The atmosphere resonated with shared memories and joyful reunions.

Adding to the emotional significance of the day, the 1998 batch expressed heartfelt gratitude to their teachers and mentors. They presented a specially curated reel capturing their most cherished moments on campus.The celebrations were further enlivened by a vibrant cultural program presented by the current students of the institute. Their energetic performances bridged generations and reflected the enduring spirit of Dr. SSBUICET.

During the interactive session, alumni shared personal anecdotes from their student days and engaged in meaningful discussions on mentoring, industry collaboration, internships, and strengthening the alumni network. Many expressed their willingness to contribute through knowledge-sharing sessions, research partnerships, industrial consultancy projects, and student support initiatives. The alumni and faculty members also paid heartfelt tributes to senior faculty members who had recently passed away, remembering their invaluable contributions to the department.

The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Alumni Coordinator, Prof. Ritu Gupta, who acknowledged the enthusiastic participation and generous contributions of the alumni. She underscored the importance of sustained alumni engagement in shaping the future trajectory of the institute.

The reunion culminated in a nostalgic lunch and tour of department and BH-3 (Bhatnagar Hall), where alumni revisited familiar corridors and campus landmarks, rekindling bonds that have stood the test of time.
