40 personalities be honoured on Independent Day

Chandigarh, May 19, 2014: The Punjab Government would honour 40 personalities from various fields during the State Level Independence Day Function on August 15, 2014. For selecting these distinguish personalities the recommendations from all the Deputy Commissioners have been sought.

The spokesperson of the state government said that the personalities, who have set examples in the act of bravery and who have done commendable job in the field of social work, art and literature, science and technology, would be chosen for the coveted prize besides excellence in learned professions.

He further said that case prize of Rs.50,000 would be given to the person for his act of bravery in combating anti social elements. He said that case prize of Rs.25,000 would be conferred for showing bravery in another field besides cash prize of Rs.11,000 for exceptional achievement/work in the field of social work, art and literature, science and technology and to learned professionals.
