40 FIRS registered in a day for stubble burning cases
The police have registered 40 FIRs in just one day in connection with farm fires in the entire district. Ironically, out of these 40 cases, only one FIR are by name while the rest have been registered against unidentified persons.
Ferozepur, October 21, 2024: The police have registered 40 FIRs in just one day in connection with farm fires in the entire district. Ironically, out of these 40 cases, only one FIR are by name while the rest have been registered against unidentified persons.
Overall 110 cases of farm fire have been reported in the district while 70 FIRs have been registered. Out of these 70 FIRs, 14 FIRs have been registered by name.
Deputy Commissioner Deepshika said that special teams have been constituted which visit the suspected site where farm fire has been reported. “All the cases, which are reported does not belong to farm fire. After checking the facts, the action is taken as per the guidelines”, said DC Deepshikha adding that special awareness drives have been initiated to make the farmers aware about stubble burning.
SSP Ferozepur Saumya Mishra said that nobody will be allowed to burn stubble. The police are also making the farmers aware about stubble burning and also registering the FIRs against the farmers who are involved in stubble burning”, said Mishra.
Avtar Singh Mehma, a farmer union leader said that the government has always made fake promises regarding the stubble burning and has never provided a permanent solution. “No farmer wants to get involved in stubble burning but he has no choice as the government has never provided any solution. We condemn the government for registering FIRs against the farmers for stubble burning”, said Mehma.
