Ferozepur, July 01, 2017: 4-day North Zone Badminton Tournament was played at the local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Hall on June 27-30. This event was organised by Mamdot Badmintron Academy with the association of District Badminton Association Ferozepur.
Around 500 players from the states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand from northern parts of the country participated in this tournament.
Matches were played among the players under 11, 13, 15, 17 and U-19 categories (boys) and U-15 (girls).
In U-15 (girls)- Savreet Kaur, a national player, won gold medal. Sakshi, a national player from Haryana, won silver medal.
In U-11 (boys), Gaurav Kumar of Ferozepur won gold medal and Samrath of Jalandhar won silver medal.
In U-13 (boys), Aish from J&K won gold and Gaurav Kumar of Ferozepur won silver.
In U-15 (boys), Aish from J&K won gold and Vishesh from Fazilka won silver.
In U-17 (boys), Vikrant Kaushal from Rajasthan won gold and Maneet Bindra of Ferozepur won silver.
In U-19 (boys), Vikran (Rajasthan) won gold and Pushpinder (Rajasthan) won silver.
Winners were awarded with prizes. DSO Ferozepur Balwant Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. DBA president Manoj Gupta, secretary Viney Vohra, Anoop Aggarwal, press secretary Sanjay Kataria were present as the special guests.
On the occasion, the organisers of the tournament and Mamdot Badminton Academy's coach Ashish Sharma also addressed the concluding ceremony.
Jaswinder Singh did the role of referee during the tournament.
