Participants during the 3rd Annual Cancer Awareness ‘Walkathon’ being organised by Can Fight Cancer- an NGO, at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, November 7, 2015: ‘Walkathon’ was conducted today to raise awareness about cancer among the people. DMCH participated in the 3rd Annual Cancer Awareness ‘Walkathon’ organized by an NGO - "Can Fight Cancer".
According to Dr Kunal Jain (Medical Oncologist at DMCH),participants from DMCH and other educational institutions gathered at SCD Government College for Boys at 6.30 am and completed 3 kms walk via College Road, Fountain Chowk, Rani Jhansi Road, Hira Singh Road and then back to the starting venue. There were close to 1000 participants in the walk including many dignitaries, cancer patients, survivors, their families, school & college students. Fifty students from College of Nursing, DMCH participated in the walk.  Principal Dr Sandeep Puri also participated in the walk and emphasized on the need to hold similar campaigns to  raise awareness about cancer. Dr Amit Dhiman (Assistant Professor) stressed on the need to make people aware about prevention and early diagnosis of cancer. The newsletter of ‘Can Fight Cancer’ society was also released on this occasion. Mr Rohin Vinayak from DMCH co-ordinated the representation of medical students of DMCH.
